All Kids Should Have a Cell Phone at the Age 8 and up

Every kid 8 and up should have a cell phone. 17% of kids around the age of 8 to 9 have their own phones while 37% of 10 to 11 year olds have a cell phone as well. There are many kids that don’t have one and cell phones are very important for helping students. They are helpful for calling your friend for help on a project or homework, it builds up responsibility, and could help a kid avoid disaster in case of an emergency.
The first reason why a cell phone is so important to a kid is that they can get help on any schoolwork questions they have. 20% of kids in America call a friend to get help and end up getting a better grade because their friend explained a way that is more understandable to your kid. For example, if –
I needed help on one of the problems on my homework, I could call my friend Rylie so she could explain whatever my question was to me and help me understand. This is very important for a kid to get help on whatever they need and be able to have the ability to understand their question and end up getting a good grade by having you friend teach you a way you understand more. That is one reason a cell phone is so important.
In addition to being able to call your friend for help, a cell phone also helps you get more responsible. Every mom wants her kid to be responsible and a phone can do just that. If your child is desperate for a phone and has a high mandatory level, your kid will be very responsible with his or her own phone. If not, it still builds up responsibility because they end up having to charge their phone, keeping track of it, and being extremely cautious not do drop it or break it. I know that when I got a phone I immediately became responsible. A phone helped me become a responsible person, and left my mom extremely happy about the result of getting me one. That is another reason why a cell phone is so important.
Most importantly, a cell phone is a great way to call for help in an emergency. 74% of Americans use a cell phone in an emergency. For children the age 8 and up especially should own a cell phone because a lot of kids walk home from school alone without a phone. If they come across a situation and need help, they can be in great danger if they can’t contact someone for help. The main reason why parents buy their kid a cell phone is for safety reasons. That is why a cell phone is so important to have.
Clearly, a cell phone has many great advantages for kids. It helps with getting help on schoolwork, building up responsibility, and you can get help in an emergency. Those were my reasons why a Cell phone is so important for kids 8 and up.
